Deleting sentences added by mistake
If the contributor of the sentence requests that it be deleted, then delete it right way.
If another member requests the deletion and gives a good reason for the deletion, wait 2 weeks to give the contributor to respond, and also to give other members a chance to leave comments.
Deleting sentences added as spam
- If it's obvious spam, just delete it right away.
Deleting sentences that aren't compatible with our CC-By license.
copyrighted sentences
- Leave a comment first to allow the contributor or other members to respond.
- If a member isn't responding and continues to add copyrighted material, delete it as soon as you see it being contributed.
series of sentences pairs copied from other websites.
- Even if the items look like commonly-used, everyday expressions, translated pairs, especially all from the same website, can be considered copyrighted.
- We occasionally have members who aren't aware of this.
- The first thing to do is to leave a comment telling the member this.
- ? Write to team@tatoeba.org and suggest that certain sentences be set to "red."
Making corrections suggested by other members.
If the contributor has not made a correction or responded to a comment suggesting a correction, then after 2 weeks, you may make the suggested correction.
It's a good idea not to make the correction if you don't know the language yourself and cannot verify that the correction actually needs to be made.
Correcting sentences by members with accounts that have been set to "inactive"
- If you are a native speaker of the language of the sentence that needs a change, you may just go ahead and make the change. If not, then you should leave a comment.
- Some members who have "misbehaved" have had their accounts set to "inactive" by the admin.
- Other members have asked to have their accounts deleted and have been set to "inactive."
Deleting bad tags
If it is obviously a wrong tag, and you're absolutely sure it's wrong, you may delete it.
It's a good idea to leave a comment first in cases where you think some members may object to the tag's deletion, and then give members 2 weeks to comment before you delete the tag
