About Furigana on Japanese Sentences

The furigana is automatically generated and is not 100% trustworthy. A serious student of Japanese should ignore it and definitely install one of these.

  1. Rikaichan is a popup Japanese-English/German/French/Russian dictionary tool for Firefox, Thunderbird and Seamonkey.

  2. Rikaikun is a port of rikaichan for chrome. Translate Japanese by hovering over words.

  3. Rikaitan is the port for Safari. (Search for it. There is no way to give a direct link.)

Not only do you get the correct pronunciation of the words, you get definitions. All you have to do is mouse-over words you can't read.

These tools will also help you on other Japanese websites.

Below is slightly outdated

You can turn off furigana in your settings now.

If you want to turn furigana off, you can do it using Stylish.
